Estou Aqui - Free Emergency Contact Bracelet

If you're living in Portugal, there's a free bracelet issued by the Portuguese Public Security Police (PSP) that could protect you or your child in an emergency — and most expats have never heard of it.

It's called the Estou Aqui bracelet (I'm here). The bracelet features a numbered medallion with "CALL 112" — Portugal's emergency number. If the wearer is lost, confused, or unable to speak, anyone can call 112, reference the bracelet number, and police can immediately access the person's emergency contact information.

Who is it for?

• Children — over 600,000 bracelets issued, 58 children reunited with their families

• Vulnerable adults — elderly individuals, anyone who may become confused or unable to communicate

• Anyone — even healthy people can find themselves in an emergency where they can't speak for themselves

How to get one:

• Fill out the online form on the PSP website

• Bring it to your local police station

• They give you the bracelet on the spot — free of charge

• Renew every two years (good practice since addresses and contacts change)
