When thinking about end-of-life planning, many people focus on burial or cremation. But there is a third option worth considering: donating your body to medical science.
In Portugal, body donation is managed through Nova Medical School (NMS) in Lisbon. Donated bodies are used exclusively for research and for the education of undergraduate and postgraduate medical students — in accordance with Portuguese Law Decree 274/99. It is, as Nova Medical School describes it, a sacred and priceless gift to the medical community and to humanity.
